How Much Does Trademark Monitoring Cost in 2026?
Prices below were checked in August 2026 from public pricing pages; enterprise tools that hide pricing are marked accordingly.
The market, bottom to top
MarkAlarm — $9/month or $79/year. Automated daily watch of new US federal applications; similarity scoring across spelling, sound, word overlap, and class; email alerts linked to the official record. No legal services attached — that's the point of the price.
Legal-brand watch services — roughly $160–$400/year. LegalZoom's monitoring runs about $175/year; Trademark Engine's about $199/year bundled or $99/quarter standalone; Trama about $160/year (US scope). Mechanically these do the same watching; some bundle attorney-consult upsells.
Professional/enterprise watching — quote-only, typically four figures and up annually. Corsearch, Markify and peers watch globally across registers, common-law sources, domains, and marketplaces, with analyst review. Right for portfolios with international registrations; oversized for a single US brand.
The free option and its cost
You can watch manually: the USPTO's search tools are public, and daily application data is downloadable. The catch is cadence — collisions are rare events inside a daily stream of thousands of filings, and the failure mode of manual watching is simply stopping. Automation's job is to be boringly consistent so the one week that matters isn't the week you skipped.
What monitoring never includes
At any price, watching is information, not action: if something serious surfaces, responding (opposition, letters, filings) is separate legal work at separate cost. Priced accordingly — information should cost like information.
